Rafael Gutierrez is an education professional with 10 years of experience in higher education, working closely with college students, 6-12th grade students, and parents. The focus of his career centers around providing access to education for first-generation, ethnic minority, and low-income students in Arkansas through outreach, program development, teaching, and individual coaching. Outside of work, he and his family are passionate about self-sufficient living, conservation, and all things outdoors!

Rafael’s goal is to create equitable learning opportunities and use his background in education to contribute to the environmental education sector. He holds a B.S. in Human Services from Cal State University, Fullerton, an M. Ed in Higher Education from the University of Arkansas and is currently concluding his PhD in higher education. His professional background is in university retention and student success, and his long-term goal is to spread education and awareness on the benefits of sustainable living and outdoor education to all members of our community.
