AEEA features job, intern, and volunteer positions around the state in the environmental and outdoor education field. We also include positions of our organizational members that are slightly outside the environmental education field.
We encourage all posted positions to include an hourly wage or salary range.
Inquiries about open positions should go directly to the organization with the open position.
Posting positions is open to all organizations in environmental education and related fields. As a benefit to our organizational members, posting is free. Other organizations may post for a small fee for 60 days. Those interested in posting should contact AEEA at info@arkansasee.org.

AEEA recognizes that we have work to do in becoming more equitable in our pay and hiring practices. We encourage other organizations and agencies within the state to join us in making changes where and when we can.

Environmental Education Seasonal & Intern Opportunities
Arkansas State Parks: Park Specialist II
This position helps park visitors have memorable experiences in state parks and form meaningful connections to the beauty and history of Arkansas. The position will research, promote, and present formal and informal outdoor programs that may include guided hikes, amphitheater talks, kayak and boat tours, resource-focused recreational activities, outdoor historic site tours, limited school programs, and programs for local communities. The position also assists with park operations duties as assigned, to include answering phones, camper registration, retail sales, answering visitor questions, assisting with housekeeping and maintenance. Specific tasks and program topics vary by site.
Positions will be filled at various locations around the state (specific locations listed below). Positions range in duration from 3 to 9 months. Positions begin March, April, or May and last through summer or fall depending on duration. Actual work schedules vary by park and season. All positions are considered part-time, but employees can expect a 35–40-hour work week during peak visitation season (peak varies by location). Housing is provided at some parks but is not guaranteed.

Ozark Natural Science Center: AEGIS Wet’n’Wild Summer Camp Teacher
Summary: Are you a high school science teacher, environmental educator, or G/T educator with
experience in field science who wants to help shape the future and change the world one student at a
time? Join the ONSC team for our AEGIS Wet’n’Wild Summer Camp!
Our team will be teaching 24 10th and 11th grade students for 14 days and 13 nights of a science
wilderness immersion program based at the Ozark Natural Science Center campus and Madison County
Wildlife Management Area, including two float trips and an overnight camping experience. Students and
teachers will be able to unplug from electronic distractions and plug into the ever-changing and exciting
world of field biology where evolving technology and field science merge.
The AEGIS campers are selected from all over Arkansas for these highly competitive scholarships. The
students are eager to learn and absorb knowledge from our educators and field scientists. Teachers will
facilitate students’ deeper understanding of nature through hands-on science and Socratic discussions of
reading selections. They will inspire appreciation of nature through sharing their love of science and the
natural world.

Ozark Natural Science Center: Paid Summer Intern
Summary: Are you an environmentalist or outdoor enthusiast who wants to help shape the
future and change the world one student at a time? Join the ONSC team as a Summer Intern for
ONSC’s summer programs, which includes training, programs and camps, followed by 2 weeks
of AEGIS Wet’n’Wild Camp. Interns will assist our teacher naturalists (TNs) with overnight
wilderness immersion programs. TNs and interns help students understand nature through
hands-on science, and teach stewardship through a love of the natural world.
During the ONSC summer camps and programs, our team teaches mixed-age students during
several programs and camps. ONSC interns also assist with program preparation and clean-up.
During AEGIS Wet’n’Wild Camp, our team teaches 24 10th and 11th grade students for 14 days
