AEEA has compiled a list of environmental learning programs and events in Arkansas. Included are a variety of education options for students, professional development for adults, and community events. This list is a work in progress. Please submit your information via this Google Form if you would like to be included.
Leopold Education Project – Arkansas
Based on the essays in Aldo Leopold’s A Sand County Almanac, the Leopold Education Project (LEP) is an interdisciplinary environmental education curriculum. Targeted mainly to middle school and high school students, it can also be adapted for use with families, adults, and elementary age children. Open to formal and non-formal educators.

Museum of Discovery
The Museum of Discovery is a science and technology center located in central Arkansas. Our mission is to ignite and fuel a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts and math through dynamic, interactive experiences. The museum is one the oldest in the state of Arkansas, founded in 1927.

Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative
We provide professional development and training schools in the Northeast Arkansas Education Cooperative in all areas of science. This could include environmental science focused training with AR K-12 Science Standards, finding and understanding local, relevant environmental phenomenon, or addressing any specific environmental science needs you may have.

Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists
The NWA Chapter of Arkansas Master Naturalists (NWAMN) is a group of volunteer educators, citizen scientists, and stewards of the environment striving to protect and preserve Arkansas’ natural beauty. Interpretive resources available along the northwest corridor of Arkansas include, but are not limited to: Interpreters & Speakers, Table-Top Activities & Displays, Outdoor Trail Guides, and Workshops/Classes. Specific topics found in Atmosphere, Biosphere, Geosphere, and Hydrosphere can be tailored to fit specific requests or grade/age levels.

Ozark Natural Science Center
Ozark Natural Science Center’s mission is to enhance the understanding, appreciation and stewardship of the Ozark natural environment. Located in the heart of the Ozarks, ONSC hosts school programs, provides environmental education to all ages, and offers facility rentals.

Ozark Society Foundation
Established in 1975, the Ozark Society Foundation supports and promotes conservation, education and recreation activity in the Ozark-Ouachita region and surrounding lowlands. The Foundation publishes conservation and nature-related books about the Ozark-Ouachita mountains region, offers an award in environmental writing, and makes grants to youth programs.

Project Learning Tree / AFA Education Foundation
Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12. PLT uses trees and forests as windows on the world to increase students’ understanding of the environment and actions they can take to conserve it. The Arkansas Forestry Association Education Foundation (AFAEF) is the state host for Project Learning Tree.
