Arkansas Environmental Education Resource Directory

AEEA has compiled a list of environmental learning programs and events in Arkansas. Included are a variety of education options for students, professional development for adults, and community events. This list is a work in progress. Please submit your information via this Google Form if you would like to be included.

Project WET

Project WET (Water Education Today) is an international, interdisciplinary water science education program with the goal of advancing water education to understand global challenges and inspire local solutions. AEEA serves as the Host Institution for Project WET in Arkansas, providing training workshops to classroom teachers and non-formal educators on diverse water topics so that those educators can reach learners with objective, experiential, science-based water education.

Recycle Saline

Recycle Saline is one of nineteen Solid Waste Districts in the state of Arkansas. At Recycle Saline we incorporate recycling programs, recycling education, enforcement, sustaining waste hauling practices, and special waste material provisions to handle solid waste in an environmentally sound manner.

Shiloh Museum of Ozark History

The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is a small history museum which serves the public by preserving and providing resources for finding meaning, enjoyment, and inspiration in the exploration of the Arkansas Ozarks. Our physical outreach region is the six counties of Northwest Arkansas, but our virtual outreach region has expanded to where ever we are invited.

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, Inc

TCWR is a 501(c)3 non-profit and GFAS Accredited sanctuary rescuing exotic big cats and bears from the exotic pet trade/entertainment industry. Founded in 1992, we have rescued over 400 animals since the beginning from 20 different states.

I am a professor in the Earth Science Department at UA Little Rock. My expertise is in the fields of environmental geology, water quality, contaminants, groundwater, energy and the environment, and geology and health. My students and I have many local research projects that pertain to environmental issues and water quality.

University of Arkansas Herbarium

The University of Arkansas Herbarium preserves dried plant specimens that document the diversity and distribution of the vascular and non-vascular plants of Arkansas. The collection is available for study by researchers and university/college students, and much of the collection is also available through an online database.

University of Arkansas STEM Center for Mathematics and Science Education

We provides quality resources and materials to the home, private and public education community. The Arkansas NASA Educator Resource Center, located within CMASE, is the state’s dissemination point for education materials provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Its resources and school/classroom presentations are free of charge. We are a training site for the GLOBE Program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment), which is an international hands-on, primary and secondary school-based environmental education and science program.
