Arkansas PLT will be hosting a unique PD opportunity this fall on a special topic featuring Project Learning Tree’s Together for Birds and Project WILD’s Flying WILD Activity Guides – just in time for National Bird Day celebrated on October 11.
September 27, 2025
9:00 am – 3:30 pm
Little Rock Zoo
1 Zoo Drive
Little Rock, AR 72205
Birds are a wonderful introduction to the natural world and happen to be just outside your door! Whether in the city or a forest, a variety of birds are usually within easy eyeshot or earshot. Observing birds helps to instill an appreciation of wildlife and helps students understand how different components of nature work together to support organisms.
This workshop will feature curriculum by both Project Learning Tree and Project WILD. PLT and the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) collaborated to develop a special activity collection–Together for Birds, while Project WILD has a newly updated Flying WILD guide. These guides offer practical hands-on classroom and outdoor field investigation experiences connecting real-world experiences in bird biology, conservation, and natural history. Activities target grades K-8 but are widely adaptable for older students as well.
Cost $20 Participants will receive 6 hours of ADE-approved PD and/or Arkansas PDR credit, both activity guides plus admission to the Little Rock Zoo for the day (a total package worth $38). Payable at the workshop by cash or credit card. Parking is FREE for workshop participants.
To Register Email your name, cell phone number, and the name of the workshop you are signing up for to Rob Beadel at rbeadel@arkforests.org. Please consider your registration as a commitment to attend as SPACE IS LIMITED.
The workshop will include a bird conservation program presented by Little Rock Zoo staff.
